International scientific conference «Sakharov readings 2022: environmental problems of the XXIst century» has started at ISEI BSU

     International scientific conference «Sakharov readings 2022: environmental problems of the XXIst century» is taking place on May19 – 20 at International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University (Dolgobrodskaya str., 23/1). It is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Institute this year. Organizers of the conference are the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian State University, and International Sakharov Environmental Institute of BSU.

     The solemn opening ceremony has taken place today at 11.00. Maskevich Sergey, Director of ISEI BSU, Kilchevsky Alexander, Deputy Chairman of Presidium of the National Academy of Belarus, Korbut Alexander, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, Safonov Vasily, Vice-Rector of BSU for Science, Filippovich Ludmila, Deputy Head of Directorate of Partizansky District of Minsk, Dokuchaev Alexandr, Deputy Chair of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department, Russkih Ivan, Head of Research Laboratory of the Republican Center for Ecology  and Local History participated in the ceremony. 

     The conference aims to unite efforts of leading scientists, practitioners, lecturers, postgraduate students, master’s students, and students from different countries to assess the impact of technical progress on environment and people, the development of measures to decrease negative technogenic impact on nature.

     Scientists and specialists from 9 countries will take part in the conference. The representatives from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Italy, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan will present their reports. 214 reports will be discussed in the conference.

     7 sections will be held. The issues related to bio-ecology, radiobiology, nuclear technologies and radiation safety, ecosystem rehabilitation, environmental monitoring, industrial ecology problems, wastes, energy efficient technologies, and energy management will be considered at the sections. It is going to carry out environmental monitoring, discuss information systems and technologies for the assessment and management of environmental quality, environmental education in the interests of sustainable development, medical ecology in terms of COVID-19 pandemic.

     Two round tables «Relevant issues of specialist training of environmental major to professional and intercultural communications», UNESCO chair «Education and sustainable development» also included in the conference agenda.
