October 1, 2020 the Republican stage of the 10th International Environmental Olympiad of Higher Education Institutions of the CIS countries was held at the ISEI BSU.
Germenchuk Maria Grigoryevna, Deputy Director for Research opened the republican stage of the Olympiad and welcomed the participants on behalf of the administration of the ISEI BSU, who also presented the jury of this stage of the Olympiad. The jury consisted of: Meleshkova Elena Mikhailovna (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus), Narkevich Ivan Petrovich (Republican Research unitary enterprise “BelSRC (Scientific Research Center) “Ecology”), Kulesh Viktor Fedorovich (Educational Institution (EI) “Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank”), Russkih Ivan Anatolyevich (EI “Republican Educational Institution “Republican Center for Ecology and Local Lore”) and the heads of all participating teams.
9 teams of higher education institutions of our republic were announced to participate in the national selection. Universities were represented by both national teams and individual teams of faculties of educational institutions:
Team of the Brest State University named after A. S. Pushkin (team leader: Gryadunova Oksana Ivanovna);
Team of the educational institution “International State Ecological Institute named after A. D. Sakharov” of the Belarusian State University (team leader: Rodzkin Andrey Sergeevich).
Team of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of the Belarusian State Technological University (team leader: Shibeko Lyudmila Anatolievna);
Team of the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology of the Mogilev State Food University (team leader: Krukovskaya Tatyana Valentinovna );
Team of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University (team leader: Gagina Natalia Vladimirovna);
Team of the Biological Faculty of the Belarusian State University (team leader: Nesterova Oksana Lvovna);
Team of the Faculty of Engineering Systems and Ecology of the UE “Brest State Technical University” (team leader: Shpoka Irina Nikolaevna);
Team of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of the State Educational Institution “Yanka Kupala Grodno State University” ( team leader: Samusik Elena Andreevna);
Team of the Agroecological Faculty of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy of the Orders of the October Revolution and the Red Banner of Labour (team leader: Pugacheva Irina Genadievna);
The republican stage of the Olympiad consisted of theoretical and practical rounds.
At the time when the team members completed the tasks of the theoretical tour, the team leaders, in the library of the Institute, got acquainted with the interactive business cards of the participating teams. After a short break, it was the turn of the practical tour, where the teams presented their projects to the jury in the field of solving problems in the disposal and recycling of industrial waste.
The results of the republican stage of the 10th International Environmental Olympiad of the universities of the CIS countries will undoubtedly please those teams that during the last academic year and at the beginning of this year systematically carried out training and went to the intended goal.
These are the winning teams:
1st place was taken by the team of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering of the Belarusian State Technological University;
2nd place – team of the Biological Faculty of the Belarusian State University;
3rd place for the team of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University.
The winning participants in the individual competition today were:
1st place was taken by Symankov Oleg Alekseevich (team of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University);
2nd place was taken by Lazerka Nadezhda Vladimirovna (team of the Biological Faculty of the Belarusian State University);
3rd place for Tereshkovich Arseniy Pavlovich (team of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University);
4th place was taken by Yukhnyuk Pavel Petrovich (the national team of the educational institution “Brest State University named after A. S. Pushkin”);
5th place went to Kulinich Anna Jurievna (team of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University).
These students will represent the Republic of Belarus at the international stage of the Olympiad.

The history of the formation of the Olympiad movement of environmental students in the educational institution “International State Ecological Institute named after A. D. Sakharov” of BSU began in 2007. Then, for the first time, within the framework of the work of the Public Council of the basic organization of the CIS member states for Environmental Education, the first Olympiad was held (Kiev-Yalta, Ukraine, 2007), which determined the problem field, topic, program and requirements for the competition’s task package.
In the years since the first Olympiad, intellectual student competitions have been held in higher education institutions in the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since seven international student Olympiads, 3 have been held on the basis of the ISEI BSU.
Traditionally, our country is represented at the international level by the national team of the Republic of Belarus and the team of the ISEI BSU.
