Historical background
The Department of Educational Work with Youth was established to implement the state youth policy in the field of education and social protection of student youth, develop the Institute student self-government bodies, and preserve the best traditions of the youth movement.
The Department reports directly to the Deputy Director for Educational Work of ISEI BSU and interacts with all subjects of the educational process: the Commission for Ideological and Educational work, Deans and Deputy Deans for Educational Work, monitors, University Chairs of Humanities and Social Sciences and Sustainable Development (SS&SD), Physical Education, representatives of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Student Union, the Guild of Students, other student governments.
Main activity:
1. Ideological and information-propaganda work with students:
-
- methodological support of the educational process;
- monitoring the effectiveness of the educational process in higher education institutions;
- organizational and methodological support of the curator workshop «Psychological and pedagogical essentials of educational work with students»;
- work of the social-pedagogical and psychological service;
- monitoring the work of Prevention Councils of the faculties;
- ideological and educational work in the dormitory;
- support the development of student self-government and student organizations of the Institute such as the Student Union, Creative Union, Council of Monitors.
2.Organizational:
-
- organization and participation in workshops, conferences, round tables on the issues of educational work with students;
- organization and holding of competitions in pedagogical skills;
- promotion of the Institute employee professional development – subjects of educational process;
- organization and holding of tourist innovation project “100 Ideas for Belarus” in cooperation with public organizations of ISEI BSU
3. Analytical:
-
- analysis of the effectiveness of educational work with youth;
- monitoring and analyzing the content of information and supervisory hours;
- monitoring and activity analysis of student self-government bodies;
- suggestions to improve the forms and methods of implementing the main directions and content of educational work with youth in the Institute and dormitories.
4. Cultural:
-
- implementation of cultural and educational activities, organization and holding of all-institute cultural events;
- promoting the development of student creative potential;
- relation development with national and foreign youth organizations, youth public organizations and associations;
- participation in competitions and festivals of creative youth.
5. Recreational activities:
-
- promotion of a healthy lifestyle through lectures, debates, round tables, etc. on HIV/AIDS prevention, bad habits, addictions, and STIs;
- coordination of activities of the Commission for Health Improvement and spa treatment of students, undergraduates, postgraduates, doctoral students and employees of the Institute;
- conducting an annual questionnaire on the formation of healthy lifestyle;
- conducting mass sports events to form a healthy lifestyle in cooperation with Physical Education Chair, the Sports Club and the Tourist Club.
6. Social-pedagogical and psychological service:
-
- create conditions for personal development, positive socialization, professional development in the social environment and family;
- organization of comprehensive personal-oriented social and pedagogical, psychological and legal assistance;
- annual updating of the Institute’s social passport;
- creation of a student database belonging to the groups of preferential categories: disabled people, orphans, victims of the Chernobyl disaster, students from large families, family students;
- creating a database of persons under obligation and monitoring the implementation of Decree No. 18 of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated on 24.11.2006 “On additional measures for state protection of children in dysfunctional families”;
- conducting psychological surveys, sociological surveys and questionnaires as part of monitoring the effectiveness of the educational process;
- assistance to the 1st year students in adaptation to the study conditions at the Institute;
- educational work with students and teachers to form psychological, pedagogical and legal culture of all participants of the educational process;
- preventive work on delinquency issues, antisocial behavior of students, undergraduates, promotion of a healthy lifestyle;
- conducting trainings, correctional work, and psychological counseling.
7. Civic and patriotic education:

- assistance in expanding and strengthening the national traditions of the Republic of Belarus and the Institute;
- providing support to youth organizations in the implementation of the state youth policy;
- form legal culture of students and respect for state symbols;
8. Environmental education:
-
- form environmental culture of students, environmental consciousness, and environmental responsibility;
- implementation of the “Environmental education program for students, and working youth of Partizansky district for sustainable development” in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Youth Affairs of Partizansky district;
- annual Republican contest “Earth is our home”;
- arrangement of the International Environmental Documentary Competition “EcoMir”;
- conducting an environmental labor practice;
- implementation of environmental projects and actions;
- formation of environmental teams.
9. Dormitory work:
-
- activities of the Housing and Consumer Affairs Commission;
- providing organizational and methodological assistance to the Student Council;
- conducting ideological, cultural, sports and recreational events;
- creating conditions for studies and meaningful leisure;
- creating a visual campaign;
- promotion of a healthy lifestyle, formation of students ‘ attitude to their health as a social value.
