Specialities of the Faculty of Environmental Medicine

1-80 02 01 “Medical and biological business”.

Qualification “Biologist-analyst. Biology teacher”.

Students study: biological (in-depth) and medical sciences; modern methods and means of laboratory diagnostics used to assess the functional state of the body.

They acquire the skills of bioanalytic work to conduct biochemical, immunological and other analyses and studies of biological samples for medical purposes and to decipher them.

Graduates of this speciality are prepared to work in laboratories of medical, educational and scientific institutions.

1-33 01 05 “Medical ecology”

Qualification “Ecologist-expert”.

Students study: ecology and environmental standards, biological and medical sciences; the influence of environmental factors on humans.

They acquire the skills of working with regulatory documents, the skills of working with modern equipment to conduct chemical, physical, microbiological and other analyses and researches.

Graduates of this speciality are prepared to work in laboratories of hygiene and epidemiology centers, as well as other institutions and enterprises engaged in determining the level and nature of the impact of environmental factors on the population.

Specialities of the Faculty of Environmental Monitoring

1-100 01 01 “Nuclear and radiation safety”.

Qualification “Engineer”.

Students acquire the skills of: ensuring nuclear and radiation safety of personnel and the public; accounting and control of nuclear materials at nuclear power plants and in their sanitary protection zones; safe use of ionizing radiation sources; individual dosimetric monitoring and control of the radiation situation during radiation-hazardous work.

Graduates of this speciality are prepared to work in organizations of the Ministry of Energy; at the enterprises of the Belarusian NPP (Nuclear Power Plants) that use ionizing radiation sources; the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

1-40 05 01-07 “Informational systems and technologies (in healthcare)”.

Qualification “Software engineer”.

1-40 05 01-06 “Informational systems and technologies (in ecology)”.

Qualification “Software engineer-ecologist”.

Students study: operating systems and databases; object-oriented programming; systems and technologies of intelligent data processing.

Students acquire the following skills: design and development of software (software) for information processing systems; adaptation and implementation of software systems and technologies in ecology/healthcare; configuration, diagnostics and repair of hardware and software; operation and configuration of information security systems.

1-31 04 05 “Medical physics”.

Qualification “Medical physicist”.

Students study: physics (in-depth-optics, atomic and nuclear physics); biological and medical physics; fundamentals of medicine; physical methods of diagnosis and treatment used in medicine (including nuclear medicine);

Students acquire the skills to work on special equipment used mainly in oncology and medical radiology for the purposes of diagnosis and treatment.

A medical physicist prepares the appropriate equipment, treatment procedure, or research. In radiotherapy, the individual safe dose is calculated and the patient is irradiated. It is responsible for the safe use of ionizing radiation for medical purposes.

1-33 01 07 “Environmental protection activities” in the following areas: “Environmental management and expertise”, “Environmental monitoring”.

Qualification “Ecologist. Engineer for the protection of the environment”.

Students study: industrial ecology and rational use of natural resources; expertise of ecological and economic systems, processing, neutralization and disposal of industrial waste.

Students acquire the following skills: environmental impact assessment; design of standard nature protection measures; conducting environmental expertise of various types of project analysis; environmental audit, etc.

Graduates of this speciality are prepared to work in organizations of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, enterprises of industry, transport and communications, housing and communal services, and research centers.

1-43 01 06 “Energy efficiency technologies and energy management”.

Qualification “Energy manager engineer”.

Students study: technologies and tools for converting various types of energy; energy supply systems for enterprises, buildings and structures; methodology for evaluating the efficiency of using renewable energy sources.

Students acquire the skills of: developing and implementing energy-efficient technologies in various sectors of the national economy; conducting a systematic energy analysis of enterprises; monitoring and accounting for the consumption of fuel and energy resources and monitoring their effective use.

Graduates of this speciality are prepared to work in the energy departments and services of various enterprises and organizations of industry, forestry, transport, construction, research centers, etc.
